Johnny has been laying asphalt around the northeast side of Houston long enough to know which driveways were built right and which ones were built fast. Stokes Paving runs on the first kind.
That means he is out on the property when the quote gets written, and he is there when the mix goes down. If the base needs another few inches of rock, you hear it from him before the work starts, not after the first crack shows up.
It is a family operation. The trucks have his name on them, they get parked at his house, and his kids climb on them. That is a decent reason to do the job right the first time.

How we work
Four things we do not bend on.
Base First, Always
Asphalt is only as good as what is under it. We would rather spend the extra hour on grade and base than come back to a driveway that cracked in a year.
Straight Quotes
Free estimates, written prices and a plain-English explanation of what your money is buying. If an overlay will do, we will not sell you a tear-out.

We live and work northeast of Houston. Our name goes on every drive and lot we leave behind, and we drive past most of them every week.
The part nobody sees
Asphalt is only as good as what is under it.
Almost every failed driveway in this part of Texas failed underneath. Gumbo clay moves, water gets in, the base pumps, and the surface cracks apart in a pattern that looks like alligator hide.
So we spend the time down there: cut the grade, get the fall right so water runs off, bring in base rock and compact it in lifts. Only then does the hot mix go down, and it gets rolled while it is still hot enough to knit together.
It is slower. It is also why we are comfortable driving past our jobs years later.

We Walk It
We come out and look at the ground in person. Base condition, drainage, access for the trucks and how you actually use the surface all change the job.

A written price with the thickness, the square footage and what is included spelled out. No pressure, no vanishing act, and no surprise line items at the end.

Grade, base, hot mix, roll it while it is hot. Most residential driveways are done in a day and ready for your vehicles the next.
